Peter Bonde Becker Nelson
9 Monologues
November 19 - December 20 2007
St. Paul , MN. November 9, 2007 -- Denler Art Gallery is hosting a video installation by Minneapolis-based artist Peter Bonde Becker Nelson.
The video work on display is called 9 Monologues. Discussing the work, the artist notes:
I constantly wonder what perceptions people have of themselves and how they perceive their situation in life. In this work, I asked (9) women ages 5 to 74 to explain their roles as women and how they differ from men. I then videotaped myself lip-synching to their responses. Though I originally set out to truly empathize with these women, this piece has undoubtedly become an exploration of my own self-perceptions as well.
